Just to counterbalance the ugly ATC Hybrid in the previous post, I took some pictures of my 1987 vintage Nike Air Pegasus.
Let’s focus on these brilliant Nikes and try to forget what we just earlier have seen with these ATC hybrids…

In this section I highlight the worst vintage t-shirts ever created. No, I don’t mean Bad in the 1980s Michael Jackson way … I mean: offensive, vile, in poor taste, politically incorrect, or just plain ugly.

T-Shirt: Devo New Traditionalists Fan Club T-Shirt
Type: Band
Offense: Paradoxically Ugly
Uses: You’re a member of Devo, OR, one of your hangers desperately needs a shirt on it.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Devo and 99.9% percent of vintage Devo t-shirts. I love the trend-setting fashion gimmicks and uniforms they used. Truth be told, I’m actually wearing an Energy Dome as I type this. I love all their imagery, logos, layout, and use of color. But this sleeveless red turtleneck atrocity is definitely the exception that proves the rule.
For openers, a sleeveless tee / turtleneck combo clashes in terms of its weather-friendly features. If it’s warm enough to go sleeveless, why would you want a turtleneck on? It doesn’t make any sense, but I’m sure that’s why Devo did it. This turtleneck is actually thicker fabric than the base of the shirt and it’s pretty long so it bunches up under your chin. Yuck.
To make matters worse, both sleeveless and turtlenecks are difficult to pull off even when not sewn together. Please don’t go sleeveless unless you’ve got a toned torso and fit arms. And pass on turtlenecks unless you’re a professor and it’s worn under a corduroy blazer with elbow patches.
Now that you know what to avoid there’s plenty of amazing vintage Devo t-shirts here.

Am I getting to old?
Probably… because these Air Tech Challenge hybrids that Nike recently released are the opposite of what I expect from Nike…. that the Jordan brand is pretty good in creating frankenstein shoes, that we all knew….with the “sub zeros” and the “six rings” JB brand created monstrous shoes, that were in colorway and design a total mistake (but maybe not from a sales perspective)
But who came up the idea, of making an ATC hybrid, turning brilliant shoes in to a sort of 6 year old collage….i am not a designer of shoes, but i do have eyes, and i see that this hybrid shoe is totally out of balance: color wise and designwise, with total lack of respect for the original shoes….
Why not just make a solid and perfect retro of these? Nike can have my pair if they need an example….

We’re not going to cram any vintage Irish t-shirt propaganda down your throat, we know you need that passageway clear for green beer. Instead we’re pausing for the cause to let you know about a tee organization that’s doing something for the environment.

Teecycle.org is run by Tim Cigelske. His nifty newly renovated site offers second hand t-shirts for sale with a portion of proceeds passed along to environmental charities. Most of his inventory is late 90s / early 00s promotional schwag and humor tees, but he also has the odd 1980s up for grabs; so keep your eyes peeled and be ready to act quick, because everything is $10 and that includes shipping.
