Fact: The Grateful Dead were the house band for the Acid Tests, which were a series of house parties held by Ken Kesey in the mid 1965-66. Kesey was heavily involved in experimental drugs and was best know for writing One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

Fact: The skull and rose design was only partially the handy work of Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelly. They added letters and color to a black and white illustration by Edmund Joseph Sullivan from 1913.

Shirt #3: Stanley Mouse Ice Cream Kid Ringer

Date: 1979
Fact: Mouse was connected to The Dead because of his design gig at a music venue in San Fran known as the Avalon Ballroom. In 1966 The Grateful Dead (not yet a household name) were scheduled to play and the Ballroom requested that Mouse design a poster for the event.
