Fact: In preparation for his role De Niro got a cab license and picked up fares in NYC for a few weeks. He also visited an army base to tape record soldiers from the Midwestern United States to adopt their accents.

Released: 1975
Fact: (Spoiler alert) This was based on a true story. The real life version of Pacino’s character was given 1% of the net profits for rights to the story. He used that money for his partner’s sex change operation.

Shirt #6: The Shining

Released: 1980
Fact: The Shining is based on a Stephen King novel by the same name. King has stated he doesn’t care about the movie versions of his work but expressed this to be the only one he remembers hating. He also felt Jack Nicholson was a poor selection for the lead role because audiences were already familiar with his descent into madness after starring in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

Fact: Given its plot, high production and box office payday Deep Throat is said to be the first mainstream adult film. It sparked the “porn chic” trend garnering (admitted) interest in XXX from the upper class.

Shirt #4: I’m Gonna Git You Sucka!
Availability: Currently Available on eBay
Released: 1988
Fact: A television spin-off of this blaxploitation parody called Hammer, Slammer, & Slade aired in 1990. It too was written by Keenen Ivory Wayans but due to commitments with In Living Color he did not star in it or direct. The pilot was never picked up.
