Fact: Columbia Records (Def Jam’s distributor) refused to release Reign due to its controversial lyrical themes and cover art. Geffen Records eventually took on the task.

Fact: In ’89 Metallica received their first grammy nomination. They lost to Jethro Tull who wasn’t even in attendance assuming Metallica would take it. It was named on of the “Grammy’s 10 Biggest Upsets” by Entertainment Weekly.

Date: 1992
Fact: The single Symphony of Destruction is one of Megadeth’s best sellers. It received heavy rotation on MTV, but eventually got censored because of a scene that involves a political assassination scene.

Album: Kill ‘Em All
Fact: Metal Militia is one of Metallica’s fastest songs, the namesake for the band as well as a series of Metallica tribute albums. The track has been credited to Hetfield and Ulrich but it’s rumored to have primarily been written by Dave Mustaine.
