A brand spanking new vintage t-shirt book was released today and it looks promising. The author was inspired by the all-too-common nightmare of having his beloved t-shirt collection discarded by his mother. For the last 20+ years he’s been on a mission to relive his youth via poly-cotton, which the better part of was spent growing up too fast all over Sunset Strip. The book offers a visual history told through the rarest of the rare one-off t-shirts.

We’re in the process of acquiring a review copy from the publishers for the fifth installment in our series of vintage t-shirt book reviews. If you’re too excited to wait until the verdict is out, copies are available now through Amazon.

Are you a vintage t-shirt aficionado with a knack for writing? Maybe you own a shirt with a great story like the ones in our My Vintage T-Shirt section; or you’re a photographer with an eye for vintage street level fashion. Perhaps you have a unique idea for a regular Defunkd feature – what ever the case may be, we’re looking for relevant contributions to our wonderful blog. Collectors, dealers, everyone is welcome to pitch their ideas. Please contact us.

malaysia-map In our first Malaysian bundle post we featured a tiny fraction of their vintage blog shops. That was roughly six months ago and they have been growing exponentially ever since. I’m pretty certain they’re going to break the internet at some point. Until that sad day comes I’ll keep traveling to their infinite virtual vintage destinations and report back ones that catch my eye. If you can’t find what you’re looking for on eBay, make use of the wanted section in our forum – one of our browsers did and found the shirt he was looking for on a Malaysian blog.

Every so often we feature an interesting vintage clothing piece that’s currently up for grabs on eBay. Please inform us if you create or discover an auction we might like by posting a link to the listing on our forum.

What we Say: I like mixed lots and I can not lie….The final days of Defunkd auctions are now in progress. We gathered up the remainder of our inventory and put together a pretty impressive lot which includes a lot of GNR, Michael Jackson, and an excellent array of singles. There’s also a number of tour and sports jackets thrown in the mix and a massive inventory of backstage passes and buttons. I’m also going to throw in a few other bonus’ that I was too lazy to photograph and list.

Final Price: $659.00

Please excuse our appearance over the weekend! You’ll probably notice some links are bringing back 404 errors. Worry not we have our best men working on it right now. We’ve just enhanced our home page (defunkd.com) to include our various feeds, and summarize the world of vintage tees in one convenient location. It’s up and running – go take a peak. That is all.

happy new yearPlease excuse our short break from blogging during the holiday season. We were busy stuffing envelopes with t-shirts and stuffing our faces with turkey. We also officially closed our eBay store, but Defunkd will continue to exist via our blog and forum for as long as 8-track cassettes are the format of choice. In other words, forever.

The last of our t-shirt inventory will be sold in one big lot beginning on Monday evening. After which our auction days will go on hiatus only returning sporadically with extremely special listings.

We’re also in the process of making some small tweaks to our site so please excuse our appearance in the coming week.

Best wishes in 2010! Now back to our regularly scheduled blogging…
