Reputable Levi's Big E Seller?

Postby CRAZYBUBBA on Tue Feb 16, 2010 12:36 pm

I'm always on the hunt for Big E jeans so I've been following this seller:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Vtg-BIG-E-LEVI-denim ... 3a5770c91a

I haven't bid on anything because I like to see the labels/rivets before bidding. Also, in the past he seemed to always have 5-6 Big Es up for auction all with fairly similar washes. Does anyone know about the seller? I grade about 1,000,000lbs a month and only get about 1 Big E per month, so my instinct tells me that something isn't right. But he could always just have a great supplier. His other stuff seems to be on the level. Any thoughts?

They are repros....

Plus, some of his titles even say repro - and the descriptions of the Champion shirts:

"1950s High Quality Japanese Reproduction "

Yup, these ones are. The bold lettering on the care patch/strong red color of the selvedge helps explain why he has so many. I thought that I had actually seen a few vtg jeans earlier (circa oct) and had forgot to ask about them until now. Maybe he just couldn't fit repro in the title? That definitely answers some questions.

couldn't fit repro in the title...or probably didn't want to....knowing it wouldn't persuade bids...plus...counterfeiting levi's is probably a risky biz on eBay as far as getting listings pulled.

What are Levis Big E? I see that a lot on eBay myself and wondered what it actually meant.

Most people are looking for Big E's because of their cone denim/selvedge/historicity/other intangible factors. In my mind, the indigo color and cut is really important.

Aside from Big Es I also like some of the 70s Levi's but I do look forward to owning a buckle back pair one day.

I tried on a couple vintage pairs and you can really feel the difference. But the high waist cut makes me feel silly.

I bought a pair of Karl Lagerfeld jeans a few years back. They were made in Japan, with hidden rivets, selvedge, the works. Wore them to bits and now going to get them rebuilt. What are some other good japanese made brands?

I think the clue is in the title,'LVC' for 'Levi's Vintage Collection',in other words, repro.
