S Mouse

Post by waxandthreads »

What exactly is this? Screen print or heat transfer templates that were used for quicker airbrushing? Common practice? Assuming this would be less desirable than freehand?

This guy has a ton of Mouse sweatshirts. There's a cool pic of his booth at one of Rin Tinaka's shows (maybe Inspiration). Anyways, he had a table full of them.

A lot of his airbrushed stuff was printed - the black parts anyway. Then he hand detailed the color parts. Especially good when he was doing heavy volume at shows.

P.S. have you heard of the hip hop artist "S.Mouse!" ?

I saw that table of original Stanley Mouse customs at Inspiration. Very rare and very valuable.

I'm pretty sure he created most of them on the spot when he would have a booth at the hot rod shows in the 60's and possibly the 70's. The sweatshirts would have been screen printed prior to the shows and then he would do the custom airbrushing as you watched. Keep in mind airbrushing was still a relatively unknown medium back then so it would have been pretty cool to watch. Not to mention you could go home with a "one of a kind" signed sweatshirt or t-shirt.

Jimmy did a blog post back in June 2009 about these custom pieces http://www.defunkd.com/blog/2009/06/30/ ... e-t-shirt/

Pretty much anything original from him is collectible these days.

If you ever find any tees with his graphics and name...grab it!

Yeah I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 60s signed custom sweatshirt last year. No screen print. Pricey, but I'm happy with it to keep for myself.
