Fact: Clockwork is adapted from a 1962 Anthony Burgess novel by the same name. Burgess and the film’s director Stanley Kubrick were once pals, however, that relationship quickly soured after the film was released. Burgress was left defending the film’s glorification of violence and to make matters worse Kubrick was the only author credited in the film. In retaliation Burgess made sure a Kubrick-esque character is beaten to a pulp in the musical version of Clockwork.
