eBay`s Items Specifics

Post by jimmyj »

eBay rant number 13,001

Anyone else find the item specifics auto fill to be a huge nuisance? I just sold an item that they auto-filled with the wrong material because I used the sell similar item link. I asked eBay support if there way anyway to remove that module and they said no.

When you`re trying to plow through listings having to remove them or fill them every time, when the information is available in the description..sux! Just a a tripping point for creating inaccurate listing.

You can bulk remove them after posting though.

End Rant.

This has been something that I've noticed too, it's really a pain in the butt when it auto fills.

How do you go about bulk removal afterwards?

Personally, I use Auctiva to create my listings and it has templates where you can save item specifics, as well as pretty much any other detail that goes in a particular listing.

I find it really nice and time-saving, especially if you have similar listings types such as t shirts and such. You simply select a template from the beginning that you have created and add pictures/unique details as required.

At $9.99 a month for a gig of photo storage and minimal knowledge of lowering picture size, but still maintain decent picture quality, it is a very nice tool I can't seem to goo on without.

If you have a Mac, just use GarageSale, we just create templates for the listings based on what they are. I think it's like 40 bucks to or something to buy the program, but it's a way better deal than any web-based solution. It's drag and drop, and there's no reason to use anybody's web space for pictures anymore since eBay hosts up to 12 for free on their servers and automatically resizes and optimizes them for their purposes. There's no need to worry about that stuff anymore like you had to do since eBay does it all on their end so we just upload the full res pictures and they do the rest. We used to host pictures on our own server but that's irrelevant now. I don't know how anyone gets by using the eBay site or any other web based service, having an actual program that you can drag and drop and shift things around is the only way to do things, in my opinion. And you can schedule auctions to start at certain times without having to pay the fee to eBay to schedule them. We use it every day to stagger auctions by a minute or two and have them start at a certain time so they're all ending a couple minutes apart in case there are people bidding on multiple shirts. The only listing related activity we even do on the eBay site anymore is bulk relisting unsold auction items but that's more out of habit than anything, everything else can be done through the program.

That looks pretty cool. I guess I use auctiva because in my current situation I am able to make listings from different computers (work and home). Having them host my images enables me to access them from anywhere I might be making the listings. Although, I know there are workarounds (a nice 50gb DropBox account, but damn the uploading and download..), this is the simplest way I have thus far. I tried turbo lister back in the day but ended up not liking it as much.

On a side note, I plan to get an iMac soonish and this would be a great tool it seems, thanks for sharing!
