A mislabeled tee

Hey All,

I recently purchased a pretty pricey tee on ebay. The tee was described as in perfect condition. There were a few pictures in the listing and it them you can see some smudges that looks like nothing more than dust spots on a camera sensor.

When I got the shirt, I immediately noticed that there were two spots/stains on the front. The smudges I saw weren't dust spots on the camera, they were stains.

Here's the problem- I like the shirt and I want to keep it. But, I do feel like I should get some sort of refund for it, especially since it was so pricey ($225).

I've gone back and forth with seller, who hasn't been very helpful. He said at first that there were no stains, but now admits there were. Said the only thing he would do is accept a return, meaning I would have to pay to track this thing all the way back to Israel. I opened a case and ebay said for me to get anything back, I will have to pay the return shipping.

Feeling a little out of options here and curious if anyone as experienced anything like this? I never leave negative feedback, but am seriously considering it as the seller has been so defiant and at times rude. Advice would be much appreciated.

Sux. Same thing just happened to me. But the seller partially refunded. I vaguely remember a partial refund option with the PayPal dispute, no? I haven't opened one in a long time.

Unfortunately, everything now goes through ebay resolution center.

Yeah, I've thought about that. I really don't like to leave negative feedback. The guy I bought it from isn't a big seller at all, so I don't think it will matter much to him. If it didn't cost $50 to track something overseas, I'd sent it back to Israel where the seller lives.

Recently had to return a shirt lot to Canada to get a refund. Cost me $50 to get it back Express Mail International. After nicely complaining to Ebay via phone, they issued me $25 in Ebay bucks. Not the greatest ever, but I was happy to have them eat half the cost.

Yeah. I've decided to just keep it. It's cool and still worth twice what I paid for it.

As a seller, I've missed some blemishes on items before. Rather than forcing the buyer to return the item - I usually ask to see a picture of the item showing the issue. Then, I try to work out some sort of discount - depending on how much the buyer paid.

Where the seller is being 'defiant', I think negative feedback is your only option on this one.

I realize that this post has long passed the 60 day feedback window, but I'll post anyway. I'd purchased an egregiously misrepresented tee from a well known seller (FasinFrank) a few years ago. It had holes and stains that were just not mentioned (and not just the pinhole kind). At that point where I didn't want anything to do with it. I contacted the seller, paid return postage, got my refund and didn't leave feedback. I wasn't too bothered at that time, but I've since gone on to purchase from hermosa, defunkd, vintage pimps, oscar, captian's vintage, maxvintage, oscar and countless others and had excellent experiences. In the future I would follow Hermosa's advice and leave neg feedback. A part of me wishes I had!

CRAZYBUBBA! We missed you! If Frank posts it will feel like 2010 again!

FasinFrank are usually spot on, but I hear what you're saying. We just fired up our eBay account to sell non-tee items, we've made a few errors listing condition items, definitely not on purpose. I think if they happily accept back and genuinely sorry, def worth adding that in.

"Item had surprise holes, but seller happily refunded."
