So I was doing some traveling this week for the holiday. Visiting some family in Arkansas I was stoked to hit up some new thrift stores and vintage shops in the area. We were somewhat short on time so I didn't get too far into things, but found some decent stuff nonetheless.

I was thinking though. How great would it be if we put together some kind of listing for each state as far as places to check out. I know we are in different areas of the country and the world and I also know that if you are a true vintage fanatic that you can't take a vacation out of town without scouring some of the racks at random thrift stores or atleast checking out the local college town vintage clothing shops.

Not sure how to make subcategories or that we need them, but I will start you off with a post for Kansas (if anybody is randomly in the area).

Wild Man Vintage, Lawrence - Great local college town shop with a very good selection of vintage gear in general. Somewhat of a smaller store, but it's packed with goodies. The owner Phil has an eye for anything vintage and is a huge connisseur of vintage clothing. I have found several concert tees at extremely fair prices (we're talking $15-$20 bucks for Springsteen, Police, Pink Floyd type stuff. Obviously like most stores some outings are better than others, but if you show up on the right day you can hit paydirt. Located on the main strip of Mass Street.

Boomerang Vintage, Kansas City - Just across on the Missouri side of Kansas City this spot is a wonderful setup. They just moved to a bigger location at the beginning of '09 and the store is packed wall-to-wall with racks of good finds. From Members Only Jackets, to Dresses, and of course t-shirts, this place is a must cruise through and it's right in the middle of a wonderful area for grabbing some BBQ and nice cold beer. Best finds consist of a 1983 KINKS concert tee and an '81 Grateful Dead concert t-shirt that is so sick. Located on 39th and Pennslyvania and has been open for over 30 years.

Re-Runs, Westport - No the most amazing spot to find a one of a kind vintage tee, but if you dabble in all things vintage this place as a lot of really good older stuff like Bomber Jackets and Western Pearl Snap shirts. I have only been here a few times because I mainly mess with t-shirts, but it's definitely worth checking out. Right in the heart of Westport. They also have a warehouse in the west bottoms that you can handpick from on the weekends by appointment. Prices are a little more expenses, but there is definitely some rare stuff that is worth the price.

The value village (savers) in Kingston, ON has been great for me. I haven't found any great vintage tees there but I have picked up lots of miscellaneous vintage there, including a couple $100 items.

In Canada I've found Value Village to be the ts of choice, no matter where you are.

Funny coincidence, I'm actually going to St. Louis with week ~thursday to meet a supplier. Unfortunately, I probably won't have enough time to swing by and say hi/ go shopping.

A little late to the discussion, but this wouldn't be complete without mentioning the Rose Bowl Flea market in Pasadena, California. Happens every 2nd Sunday in the month. Vintage nerds and collectors will find some rare shit for sale here, and the items are usually priced accordingly, but there is always a bargain or two to be found. Insider tip: the most desirable items are the smallest sizes (Japanese hipster size), so if you fancy t-shirts in Large to XL you can feel confident in haggling down for better prices.
