Vintage T-shirt Sizing and Value

When trading vintage with others I often hear "X would be worth more, had it been a size small". I don't really understand why, I'm a little larger myself and good vintage tees in an L-XL are quite difficult to find. Can anyone provide some perspective on this?

Really? That's weird I always say the reverse...t-shirts usually fetch more the bigger size...because more people can wear them.

Unless you sell to the Asian market. Here in LA, especially around the flea markets, a Small-Medium is a lot more desirable than a Large or XL.

I always seem to find shirts i'm looking for in a L or XL. And i'm a small so a vintage medium (70s or 80s) fits me perfectly and is ALWAYS harder to find for me (the collector) and more expensive when they do pop up. I'm guessing maybe when they printed up the shirts they ordered more in the bigger sizes (a modern day medium or whatever) to appeal to the general public's build and ordered less smaller ones. I had a clothing company for a short awhile before the overheard became too much and this is how i did it.

So basically my guess is that there is just simply less floating around of the smaller sizes.
