Hello everyone,
First time posting, so thank you for your patience. My main question here is not authenticity, but how to tell if it's a vintage bootleg or a decently done modern reproduction with distressing. It's a Nirvana x Ziggy Stardust AOP in medium with 21" measurement from pit to pit.
I found this t-shirt locally and, to start off, I don't believe it's authentic (but could be wrong). I compared the Giant tag against the authentic images on defunkd (with discrepancies found). That, along with the lack of real visual copyright, as the two main issues. However, it's single stitched, shirt has heavier vintage feel, and does look worn.
I included everything requested and would love thoughts. Thanks!

Interesting one - I don't think I've seen this modern bootleg/counterfeit combo.

This is a Thailand creation, the tag is the first clue.

But the print appears to be their own creation, rather than it being from some other true vintage t-shirt.

The modern counterfeit Giant tags are single stitched.

As for wear, some people/companies manufacture the wear.

Thank you. Really informative. So, this is not a reproduction because it's original art (of sorts), but also not a vintage bootleg because it's modern. Interesting. Please let me know if I'm reading your reply incorrectly.
Again, very appreciative for the time spent responding.

Yeah, it's a weird combo of an original bootleg print (albeit made up from borrowed images), not taken from any shirt that existed in the 90s - on a counterfeit modern t-shirt.
