Crazy Buyers

Post by CRAZYBUBBA »

What's the most insane bidding war that you've seen over a misrepresented item?

I once saw a pair of 70s Montgomery Ward Carpenter Jeans listed as 1950s and go for ~$220

I'd be interested to hear what you've seen.

No bidding wars here, just some people paying a lot of money for fake Coogi sweaters: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0481945763" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The same seller keeps listing them and people keep buying them up for a a couple hundred dollars plus, stuff you get in Chinatown for $25. Buyer beware!

Plastic wrap is always a bad sign.

There a quite a few sellers selling fake True Religion jeans as well.

A number of years ago a rockabetty I knew was in this mad bidding war for a poly gab HBar C western shirt. It was up over $300 and it was POLY, not even the good gab that might be worth that kind of money. I tried to get her to back down, saying it wasn't worth near that much, but she really wanted it for her greaser Bfriend for Xmas. I have no clue what it ended up at, but I WISH i had been that seller.

Another memory is a 3-colour crinoline (I know you boyos have no clue what that it, but still...) where the 2 high bidders put in no limit bids (like $1000) and it sold for like $800 and was worth like $45. i have no clue how they settled that one.
