In honor of the late, great Canadian, Leslie Nielsen I offer this rare promotional gem from Airplane! – the very film that caused his comedic career to take off. Prior to this he was grounded as television journeyman – landing roles in TV movies and on popular shows like The Love Boat and Fantasy Island (where he played a doctor.) The writers/directors of Airplane! loved him so much that in 1982 they built a comedic police TV show around him called Police Squad! It was short lived, but six years later Leslie reprised his role as Det. Frank Drebin in the hugely successful Naked Gun movie, two sequels and dozens of other parodies. RIP Leslie!
