Market Value

Post by waxandthreads »

Do you guys think Ebay sets the market value or reflects the market value of vintage t-shirts? .... then explain why.

Auctions reflect. I think auctions, especially by known eBay sellers with built in traffic, are a pretty good indicator of the true market value. Sure you can get a few guys battling which might inflate it - but generally they're a good gauge.

When you watch a show like Pawn Stars they commonly say, "In this economy.." about most of the collectibles being offered - when customers come demanding prices from a few years ago.

Auctions as of late are coming in a lot lower - which is why most sellers find them too risky. I think sellers are still in a bit of denial - fixed prices haven't come down that much. But strangely we keep getting these record breaking sales - so positive sign about the strength of these items as collectibles.
