Legit 80s Pink Floyd tee - Not Now John

Post by whoarethebeatles »

I'm quite suspicious of this tag on a tee shirt claiming to be an authentic Pink Floyd shirt from the 80s.

This is the tag in question.

This is an authentic tag for reference roughly around the same time period.

The tag has a few inconsistencies that I'd like to point out. It does not have a registered or TM symbol. The screen stars logo is touching the blue blocks on the left and it is not centred. The top of the "n" on screen is not lined up with the other letters and appears to be higher than normal.

All of these make me suspect that it is not real. The seller got back to me and told me that there are variations in tag alignment and trademark markings. Which is true but I haven't seen any like this with so many inconsistencies, especially ones with out a TM or R symbol.

Love the detective work, had to dive in myself using our archive.

https://www.defunkd.com/brand/screen-stars/

Found several, funky A - early 80s 100% cotton blue bar SS tees that match.

Take a stroll through the archive above, you'll probably find a deadstock one eventually.

I don't think you have anything to worry about here, lots of organic variations of those SS tags.

NOW, I didn't look at the print, but I don' think it's one that would be subject to being faked.

Make sure the pit to pit is in the right range just to be sure.
