Re: Radiohead Pablo Honey 1993

I have an Anvil Made in USA tag from that era. Can't read the small print, but it looks legit to me. Lack of tour dates/cities and the purple color are it's main drawbacks. This is pre-W.A.S.T.E. Radiohead.

Re: New band tees

If you like the band, collect and wear them...time will tell how collectible they are. We're in an infernal hip hop age where there are few rock bands that command much interest beyond their regional area. I'd avoid the generic band tees and focus on those with specific tour date shows on the back ...

Re: Deadstock 80's Rip Curl

Dealers in sports & other memorabilia are sometimes put in the same quandry when they come across multiples of seemingly "rare" items. Experts in the field almost all say that the best practice is to space out the auctions/listings (in this case at LEAST a few months for identical designs ...

Re: Russell Southern Company?

Russell used the Russell Southern name in advertising their jerseys at least up to 1968, and probably into the 70's. So the early '70's date is probably correct.

I still don't know much about this company. Though someone has an Etsy listing claiming a gaudy Hawaiian shirt with the HWNICBW tag is from the '60's.... https://www.vintagehanahawaiianshirts.com/listing/524199327/mens-vintage-60s-mod-tiki-bark-cloth https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4565/37892262625 ...

Re: Robin Trower 1985 Beyond the Mist tour tee

Everything that Jimmy J said. Probably not a lot of Trower stuff online, so you can price it at higher end ($75-100) and wait. If no interest (on Ebay you can gauge interest by the number that have it on watchlist) lower it in $20 tiers. At least that's how I'd play it. Good luck.

Re: Led Zeppelin 1977 US Tour tee?

Without a tag, you have to look at the print. Does it look generic? American Eagle, Lucky Brand etc specialize in faux vintage tees i.e. Joe's Boxing Parlor or some such gimmick. True vintage are usually going to be more specific, to an actual place or event. Also look for small print and the ...

Re: Led Zeppelin 1977 US Tour tee?

Possibly, though I've never run across any. Perhaps some true vintage bootleg items are floating around. Official merch, I'm not sure. The only ones I saw on Ebay were retro babydoll & women's styles from only the last 10 years (with a few unscrupulous sellers trying to pass them off as period ...

Re: Led Zeppelin 1977 US Tour tee?

The heather gray t-shirt dates back to the '50's...as I've seen photos of Marlon Brando wearing one... https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4484/37999634096_cf27214e6f.jpg This one is of my brother wearing a vintage NY Knicks tee in 1973, though we have pics from at least '71 of him wearing the same one ...

Re: Summer love Haight Ashbury tshirt

Nice graphic. IMO, anniversary shirts aren't as in demand as the original event. If this was a reunion concert tee with SF bands of the era (i.e. Jefferson Airplane/Starship) it would command more. Perhaps $50 with offers. Or maybe start higher and gauge the interest, and lower the price if needed ...

Re: Danzig Shirt

I believe Giant by Tee Jays preceded the regular Giant tag. I assume the Giant by TJ tags show up on some later 90's shirts as they were merely depleting their remaining inventory, which was mixed in with the regular Giant tagged shirts.

Re: Iron Maiden, Megadeath & Metallica T-Shirt Find, Need Help

Nice shirts. Probably the best way to photograph the shirts is flat on the floor, since it gives a better view of the sleeve size...however getting the camera in the right position can be a pain in the neck (not to mention you may have to sweep or vacuum the floor beforehand). However, I usually put ...

Re: Dating Buttons Guide

Buttons/pins are tough. You may have to go by condition, font, colors, style etc. The DC-10 button is cool & probably from the 70's (the aircraft was produced from around 1970 to the mid-80's). The Oregon Beavers, Colorado & I Am Loved appear to be 70's as well. Hang Ten has been around for 50 years ...

Re: Funny 1988 election shirt

I have a few poli novelty tees like this, though not as crude. As Jimmy said, they're tough to price and sell. If it had been put out by a competing 3rd party candidate (i.e. Ralph Nader), it's controversial nature would give it lasting interest for political junkies. This was likely put out by ...

Re: Led Zeppelin shirt

Interesting shirt, since Zeppelin broke up in late 1980 following the death of John Bonham and never toured at all in '81. I'm unsure whether this would make it desirable due to scarcity, or undesirable due to questions of it's legitimacy.

Re: When Did Hanes Double Tags Emerge?

As this awful 1993 Hanes TV commercial proves ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caN_0eAlNYU ), the swoosh through the H logo was already established by then. I used to assume it was a late 90's incarnation, likely because that design was used well into the 2000's. Wrong I was. Also, Hanes was ...

I don't know what that is over the shirt. I don't think the circle forward slash symbol came into common use until Ghostbusters in 1984. The circle w/ backward slash started to be used as a prohibition symbol i.e. "No Smoking" prior to that. Perhaps early 80's.

Sports Image Inc tag

I'll complete this t-shirt label dump with a 1990 Sports Image Inc. shirt & tag featuring Dale Earnhardt Sr. I've never had great success with NASCAR shirts, even 80's shirts of icons like Earnhardt & Richard Petty. Possibly a mix of oversupply & the racing demographic being cheap (or fiscally ...
