Hi, I'd like to request help authenticating and dating a Nirvana "In Utero" t-shirt.
Details:
Tag: Screen Stars, Made in USA, 50% cotton / 50% polyester, RN 13765 (sewn-in, not printed)
Single stitch on sleeves and hem
Front: anatomical angel + yellow "NIRVANA"
Back: "IN UTERO" in yellow/black lettering
Print copyright reads "© Nirvana, under license to Giant"
Colourway: olive green
Halftone screen print; ink has bled through to the reverse; fabric is thin/worn while the print is still vibrant
I've had mixed opinions online — some say period-correct '90s, others suspect a newer print on a vintage blank, or that the tag is "off". I'd really appreciate a professional opinion on:
Whether it's an authentic vintage Nirvana tee or a fake/bootleg
If authentic, whether it's the 1993 original or a later official '90s print
Rough market value
Thank you!

Re: Authentication & dating request — Nirvana In Utero tee (Screen Stars tag)
Hey there - I don't believe I've ever seen an In Utero on an old SS tag, or that color. I agree it looks off. What is the pit to pit?Marion wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2026 2:40 pm Hi, I'd like to request help authenticating and dating a Nirvana "In Utero" t-shirt.

I can tell by the quality of the print, where the foot is visible, it's a reproduction of some sort.
