MC Hammer (1990) / N.W.A (1991) Shirts

Post by exp1154 »

Hi,

I found this forum by chance, very cool, didn't know it until last week! I just got some shirts from my uncle who bought them back in the late 80s/early 90s in his favourite record store in germany. I sold most of them on ebay already (for low prices) and just kept the - in my eyes - two best:

The first one is A MC Hammer shirt from 1990, print on both sides, condition maybe worn 2 times. The second one is a NWA shirt from 1991, allover splatter print and big front and back print.

I am just curious what they're worth even though I am not selling them eventually because they're the last two pieces out of that collection.

I'm happy about every response/questions

EDIT: the colors are way better in real life, but my smartphone camera is not able to show it properly :v(

Welcome! Hammer usually does $25-40.

Nwa on the other hand hits the $200 range but not sure if that all-over print would fetch the same...typically that type of print makes it less desirable.

I would probably list that NWA at 125-150. I've been watching them trying to get an NWA lately for my shop lately.

hi,

thanks for your fast and informative answers. well I gave away all the shirts with less prints on them because the two above were really outstanding.

on ebay (especially .com, not .de) and here in the shop i saw some vintage shops that charge around 1.000 dollars for way simpler tees (run dmc shirt with simple front print, used for example). do they expect to really sell them for such ridiculous prices?

what is it that makes them so expensive?

Hey exp1154...welcome.

The pieces you see on eBay and elsewhere with the super high price tags are generally traffic drivers to the sellers store. In other words, those are the highly visible and collectible pieces that will grab someones attention with the hope that the customer will purchase something else (less expensive) in the store.

They're priced that high because the seller is also a collector and would only be willing to let go of that t-shirt for the asking price of $1,000.00, etc..

Hope that helps alleviate some of the confusion regarding pricing.
