Availability: Check Defunkd’s Movie Tee Selection Released: 1988 Fact: A television spin-off of this blaxploitation parody called Hammer, Slammer, & Slade aired in 1990. It too was written by Keenen Ivory Wayans but due to commitments with In Living Color he did not star in it or direct. The pilot was never picked up. Clockwork

A showcase of buttery soft vintage movie t-shirts. Shirt #3: A Clockwork Orange Availability: Check Defunkd for Movie Tees Released: 1971 Fact: Clockwork is adapted from a 1962 Anthony Burgess novel by the same name. Burgess and the film’s director Stanley Kubrick were once pals, however, that relationship quickly soured after the film was released.  Burgress was left defending the film’s glorification of violence and to make matters worse Kubrick was the only author credited in the film. Shirt #2: Sid & Nancy Availability: Currently Available on Defunkd Released: 1986 Fact: Sid & Nancy mostly received glowing reviews but even those who didn’t approve paid respect to the performances by the lead actors. It currently holds a Rotten Tomatoes score of 90%. Shirt #1: Less Than Zero Availability: Currently Available on Defunkd Released: 1987 Fact: Less Than Zero is based on the novel of the same name by Bret Easton Ellis. Ellis reportedly disliked the film expressing that it wasn’t closely scripted to his novel. He also felt that it was miscast with one of the exceptions being Downey Jr. who played a drug addict. Don’t love him for being the offspring of Frank Zappa. Don’t love him because of his ridiculous name. Don’t love him because he was fired from MTV for badmouthing the channel on Howard Stern’s show. Don’t love him for his cameos in Pretty in Pink and The Running Man. Love him for his collaboration with musician Don Johnson.
