Ozzy Tattoo AOP

Post by ThriftyTampa »

I was curious if I could get a legit check on this shirt I got from an older local. He claimed to be the original owner. I’ve asked some locals their opinion and the opinions are split between fake and real so I’ve been told I should post on Defunkd!

Let me know if you guys need more photos or need other details in photos of the shirt

Thanks Defunkd

I can understand the concern for this once since there's a decent convincing fake floating around - and then more recently an improved version.

This is not the fake version of the tag we usually see on these, here:

https://www.defunkd.com/fake-tag-archive/#hanes-1

Your tag is not this.

But did someone sew in a real tag?

NO, as you reported via IG the measurement to be 23", which tracks for this tag (you reported you stretched it slightly too) Doesn't look like any meddling along the neckline..although that seam looks a little shiny but maybe just a flash/camera angle.

Is there a new fake improved tag? If there is it's undetectable based on comparisons I've done here:

https://www.defunkd.com/brand/hanes-ultraweight/

All stitching is single which tracks with real Hanes tees with this tag (although also on the fake ones)

SO let's ignore the tag.

Print-wise, it's a fantastic version of the print - seems to have much better registration than the few other real ones I've compared it to - so much so I'm wondering if other assumed real ones are fake, but no I think it's a case of great photos and a great print vs lessor quality photos and a lessor quality print.

Anyway, if any of those saying it's fake have any comments please let me know and I'll take another look.

But if this is fake, we are all in biggggg trouble.

Anyone else?

Thank you jimmy for the critical analysis. I can appreciate how you picked the shirt apart to come up with your opinion. I’m curious for the counter perspective of it being a fake with supporting points like you included. First time posting on Defunkd; what a unique platform you’ve created over many many years.

if i look at the label there is no doubt, but do you see any re-stitching marks or not?

and if I look at the screen printing, it looks neat, and does the screen printing feel rough and thick?
because the fake one has a very sticky and thick screen print, and if you just look at the photo you will definitely know that it is fake

for now i just ask that for your clothes :)

Lucas thanks for commenting. I’m assuming the restitching question is in regards to the tag so I will upload two photos of the tag that show the stitching more.

For the rough/smooth aspect you’re addressing I would say the graphic feels smooth. I believe I know what you’re referring to with fakes as someone showed me the way fakes feel it’s like sticky rubber. The ozzy shirt doesn’t feel sticky to me like the fake shirts I have seen before.

What about the photos is a giveaway that it’s fake if you could elaborate more on that I would appreciate that. Thanks
