Sketchy Children

Oh boy. This one from coinandpapermoney looks sketchy. First off, did Violent Children every actually make a shirt? I honestly don’t recall ever having seen or heard of a legit one. CT heads, speak up. Second, if you are using a semi high res graphic as your image of a “crazy rare” “old shirt” you “dug out,” the chances of it being real are pretty damn small. My guess, by “dug out” they mean, “screened two weeks ago and fell behind the dryer.” Third, if you have an XL and a SMALL available, there is no chance in hell this is legit. What band in the early to mid 80s made shirts on size small tees?

North Kingstown RI. I expect Tom Z or Casali to look into this.

PS. No diss on the graphic because the graphic is sick. If you’ve never heard of Violent Children, you are missing out. Beb Ray Cappo on drums. Get into it.

I remember the lovely and talented Nina Kyle of Bad Dream House sporting a VC shirt in 1991-92, which I assumed was an original by the looks of it. I think I remember this being posted in her or some other CT person’s Facebook page, so I’ll do some stalking and get back shortly with an update.

    There’s a a dude sporting a Violent Children shirt on page 55 i the “Everybody’s scene” book.

He also only posts the graphic instead of pics of his other shirt auctions (TUI and 2 Calvin and Hobbes shirts…wtf?!) So maybe that’s just his thing. However I’m a bit sketched out by the fact that he’s got not one but 2 of this shirt, and his only other hxc shirt is a TUI shirt. Seems kinda sketch to me as well. Especially since most NK dudes I know are fucking weirdos.

His first auctions were for Drug Free Youth shirts which he said he wanted to sell local. I offered to drive to his house to check out his wares, and he went silent on me. Sketchy indeed.

I e-mailed one of the guys about it and here’s their response:
“I don’t recall that design being a T-Shirt. I think it might have been a sticker at some point”

I used to have a VC shirt and it wasn’t that design. Most likely a sticker. VCs were badass. Great memories of their shows. Singer Dave being carried to the stage from the back of crowd atop a skateboard at their outdoors daytime Hatteras Park show. Opening for 76% Uncertain’s first show at the legendary Pogos in Bridgeport. Still have two on tape that I recorded. One from the Anthrax when they opened for 7 Seconds and the other from a Agnostic Front show my Brother set up in Mahopac. Agnostic Front show ended with some kid running across the hall and diving into Ray’s drums during last song. Both shows have songs that were never recorded the best being the legendary; “Adrenalin Only.” The Mahopac show they opened with a longish Metallic instrumental.
