WHAT … FEEDS … THE … FIRE!

Today is Jim C’s birthday. BEST WISHES to Jim C.

If you don’t Jim C, your missing out. You may currently know him from Soul Control. Over the years, there were a lot of other bands. Some I have forgotten, some Jim C would likely wish me to forget. But one of my faves was Rhode Island’s own What Feeds The Fire.

Before Soul Control and Verse, there was WFTF. Before Jim joined this band, I will admit, I was ignorant of them. I had never gone out of my way to see them. But Jim joined, and I began to pay attention.

What about this gig?

May 19 2002 @Met Cafe Providence RI: The Cro-Mags, Some Kind Of Hate, Suicide File, What Feeds The Fire

Fuck, you’re moshing. And I saw their last gig in 2003.

July 27, 2003 @The Palladium Worcester Mass: Team Neale show: Bane, Hatebreed, Barrit, Hope Con, Ringworm, What Feeds The Fire (last show), Most Precious Blood

It was definitely a high note to go out on. And if you don’t know, they had an intro style song with the lyrics, (duh) “What .. Feeds .. The .. Fire!” Kids would mosh hard, stage dive, pile on and get crazy. And then they would force the band to play the song again to continue the crazy.

Great times, great band, great dude. Happy Birthday, Jim.

That’s the first shirt they ever made. Sean made them with the x’s on the sleeve and without so that edge and non edge kids alike could wear the shirt. Also, I got to sing the outro at that cro mags show cause sean didn’t want to. Good times.

I don’t think this date is correct, unless there was the exact same show as I went to in 2002 at Met Café

That show was in July 2002, and earlier than the 19th, I know because I went on an East-Coast trip from 06.30.’02 til 07.20.’02 and we came through Providence the first week on our way up to Boston.

That is, if there wasn’t a show that date with the exact same line-up.

I was going to mention that, but didn’t want people to think my head was any larger than it already is…

Jim or Tom, is my date correct? Or is flex right on this one??

  5. jim c says:

this was on july 6th, 2002. i believe that may show was cancelled and rescheduled and wftf replaced hope con. the july show ended up being the 7″ rec release show.

woooofffffff. I don’t even remember hosting a WFTF page on HYE. Ouch. BUT, it did clear up the date for that Trance Buddha show, 12/30/2001. Seth sang an Out Of Step cover. Spencer Crispe moshed super hard.

    Jim, is this show:

@Lupo’s Providence RI: Bane, Shadows Fall, Candiria

    The same as this show?

12/28 – Lupos in Providence RI STILLBORN FEST w/ Hatebreed, Bane, Poison The Well, Shadows Fall and Most Precious Blood

I’m guessing no. As I only remember Mitch, Julia and Seth at the Bane /Shadows Fall / Candiria gig. I’m guessing more heads would have rolled up to see WFTF in RIX..

  7. thefleX says:

yes, the show was rescheduled, now I remember, because the Cro-Mags couldn’t make it the first time around, I think… I could be wrong because it’s been 8 years and 7000 miles in between.

  8. jim c says:

those are diff shows for sure. stillborn fest was me and rich g’s first show in wftf. that same night we got offered that hatebreed/bane/ptw tour. quite the show.

having wftf on hye was during my tenure as a member of the site.
