Check Yourself

I love descriptions like this from xxxevilxxx666. It really gives you a sense of the tshirts history and the hoops people once jumped through for tees.

SOLD AT THEIR ONE TIME REUNION SHOW IN EARLY 90’S. ULTRA COOL BEASTIE BOYS RIP OFF DESIGN. I GOT THIS FROM THE AD ON MAXIMUM ROCK’N’ROLL BACK IN THE DAYS. MAILING WELL CONCEALED CASH AND ALL THAT TO GET THIS. OLD SCHOOL. TOOK FOR A MONTH TO COME. LONG OUT OF PRINT. VERY RARE.

Granted, make sure to click over to the auction to see HOW GIANT the font is … Good story though. While I never personally ponied up concealed cash for an ad in the back of MRR, I know plenty of people who did. Most got what they ordered, even if it did take 6-8 months to arrive. These things happened back in the wild, wild west days of pre-internet.

This was literally the wackest shirt I had ever seen in 1995.
And selling them for $15 in 1995 was not well received from the fest audience.

I guess the $15.00 for a shirt (in 95) meant the dude had a surplus to sell, which is precisely how I copped it from the MRR classifieds. Years later the novelty wore off and I either sold it or traded it.
