Every so often we feature an interesting vintage clothing piece that’s currently up for grabs on eBay. Please inform us if you create or discover an auction we might like by posting a link to the listing on our forum.

vintage triumph motorcycle t-shirt

Item: vintage 1950s Triumph Motorcycle t-shirt

Brand: ColFast by Victoria Products

Sold By: blackrebelvintage

What the Seller Says: ORIGINAL VINTAGE TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLE T-SHIRT. I BELIEVE THAT IT’S FROM THE 50s OR EARLY 60s.

What we Say: According to Wiki Motocross originated in Britain in the 1920s but was introduced to the U.S. in 1966. Given the tag is a product of St. Louis, it’s most likely from the 1960s. Elementary my dear aficionados. Although, maybe this isn’t even Motocross and I’m an idiot. Anyone? Beuller?

Final Price: $248.00

With the prices of vintage t-shirts soaring we’re pitting some heavy weights against each other in an all-out, no-holds-barred…civilized vote by vintage t-shirt aficionados.

vintage star wars shirt Transcelestians

Beatles Butcher

The true origins of this relic are unknown. Its controversial artwork is derived from the infamous Beatles Butcher album that was released in 1966 and subsequently pulled from shelves because of widespread complaints. The original banned albums are worth a small fortune and this tee is arguably even more scarce. Is it an extremely rare record store promo?  Or one of the earliest examples of bootlegging? Either way it’s a vintage artifact.

Brand: Vee-Kay

Age: 43

Price: $20,000

Transcelestians

This badboy is quite possibly the most rare Star Wars collectible on any planet. A t-shirt made for crew when filming began for A New Hope, aka Star Wars aka Transcelestians (the working title). This is such obscure Star Wars trivia that when this working title is Googled, there are no results…seriously, try it. It was once owned by Ben Burtt, the four time Academy Award winning sound technician who got Darth breathing heavy.

Brand: Russell

Age: 32

Price: $29,000

vintage cro-mags t-shirt

Item: vintage 1989s Cro-Mags Best Wishes T-Shirt

Brand: Hanes

Sold By: Wyco_Vintage

What the Seller Says: Speechless.

What we Say: This Cro-Mags shirt always makes waves whenever it’s listed, we featured in our Going Once section after it fetched $800. Why you ask? While the band never had huge commercial success it did gather one of punk’s biggest cult followings. This was the result of their groundbreaking punk fused with thrash metal sound and a revolving door of accomplished band members.

Final Price: $202.50

closing

After 3800 transactions over the past five years we’re throwing in the towel. It’s been a blast but we’ve come to realize that our efforts are better spent on this blog and our forum which will be our primary focus in 2010.

Sure, we might make sporadic eBay cameos when we have something really special to post, but our store is schedule to be demolished immediately following our final series of auctions.

Our entire inventory is now up for grabs starting at $9.99 and lower. We’ve also posting the last of our Lost & Found items which include an impressive array of vintage autographs, programs and other rock memorabilia.

What ever t-shirts remain will be sold in one lot, so if you’re a seller, keep your eyes peeled in the weeks to come.

Thanks so much to everyone of our customers, we couldn’t have done it without you. And best of luck to all the other sellers who continue to slug their guts out for the love of vintage t-shirts!
